When you open a trade account or place an order we collect business contact details (business name, contact name, role, address, phone, email), delivery details, order and invoice history, and — for credit accounts — the information needed to run a credit check on the business. We do not store full card details; payments are processed by our payment provider.
To take, deliver and invoice orders and run your account (performance of a contract); to keep accounting and VAT records (legal obligation — records are kept for 6 years); to run credit checks before extending credit (legitimate interests); to trace batches in a product recall (legal obligation); and to tell existing trade customers about relevant lines and offers (legitimate interests — every message includes an opt-out, and we stop on request).
Our accounting software and bookkeepers, payment providers, credit reference agencies (credit accounts only), delivery staff (name, address and phone for the drop), and HMRC or other authorities where required by law. We do not sell data.
The site sets a session cookie (sl_session) that is strictly necessary to run
your basket and account login — it does not track you across other sites. If we add analytics
cookies in future, we will ask for consent through a cookie banner before setting them.
You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, object to marketing, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Note that invoice and accounting records must legally be retained for 6 years even after an account closes. To exercise any right, email sales@sortlistwholesale.co.uk — we respond within one month.
